Materials and construction
What are your standard drawer box materials?
Our standard specification is 1/2" solid Maple or 9-ply Russian Birch sides with a 1/4" maple ply bottom. 5/8" sides and a 1/2" bottom can also be selected on the order sheet.
Do you build drawer boxes in other woods?
Yes. We also make boxes in Cherry, Mahogany, Beech, Oak, Walnut and more. Call us at (408) 782-1313 if you need a species that is not listed.
How are your dovetails cut?
We use a fully computerized (CNC) dovetailer that cuts equal-spaced dovetails on virtually any size of drawer. That means there are no height restrictions.
Can you match my existing dovetails?
Yes. Because the dovetailer is CNC controlled, we can match existing dovetails, which is helpful for remodel and replacement work. You can also specify the number of dovetails.
Can you make undermount notches, scoop fronts, or pullout fronts?
Yes. Boxes can be notched for specified undermount slides, and we make pullout fronts and scoop fronts. The order sheet also lists raised front or back, ears, nice face, slope, a 1/2" lip, and a 1/8" step up. See all options.
What edge treatments do you offer?
1/8" round over edges or eased edges.
Finishing and assembly
Are the drawer boxes finished?
They can be finished or unfinished. Finished boxes get a medium sheen pre-catalyzed lacquer for a smooth, sleek look.
Do boxes come assembled?
Both assembled and unassembled boxes are available. Choose Assembled or Unassembled on the order sheet.
Do you offer cabinet finishing or clearing?
Yes. We have a large spray booth and can clear cabinets at a very competitive rate. Call (408) 782-1313 for a price quote.
Ordering and lead time
How do I place an order or ask for a quote?
Use the online order sheet to list up to 25 drawer sizes, set the specs once, and send it. You can also email [email protected] or call (408) 782-1313. Open the order sheet.
Do you show prices online?
No. We confirm pricing by phone or email after we receive your sheet, so you get a quote for exactly what you ordered.
What sizes can I order, and in what format?
Drawer boxes are made to your dimensions. Give width, depth, and height in decimal inches, for example 21.0625, and a quantity for each line. You can paste rows copied from Excel. Our measuring guide explains how to size a box. Read the measuring guide.
What is your lead time?
We try to maintain a five to ten day lead time, depending on the size of the order and whether the product is finished or unfinished. Arrangements may be made if a rush order is needed. See lead time details.
How do I get my order?
The order sheet lets you choose Cal Drw delivery, pick up, or a carrier. Pick-up is at our shop in Morgan Hill, California.
Guarantee and business
What is your guarantee?
We guarantee our drawers 100%. We warranty the drawer box dimensions and materials to be in accordance with your order. We must be notified of any discrepancy within 5 working days of receipt, and returns are accepted only if the boxes did not meet the order specifications.
Who do you make drawer boxes for?
Cabinet manufacturers and shops. Outsourcing drawer boxes lowers overhead and increases profit while adding value to every case.
